Supplements For Vegans?
I recently started a vegan diet, and I’ve been warned alot about losing nutrients. I decided to go vegan instead of vegetarian because dairy gives me asthma attacks, so I am currently not using any sort of dairy, which is fine because I normally don’t anyway. Anyway, my point is what kind of supplements should I be taking in addition to eating all vegan food? I’ve been taking B-12, but is there more? I’ve been eating alot of grain, soy protiens, veggies, fruits, etc… Thanks for any info.
All you need is Vitamin B-12 everything else is really easy to get from other sources.
But I will advise you to try and keep your soy intake to a minimum, instead you can go for tofu or rice products, I like rice milk.
Soy has something in it which can mimic estrogen, that can completely change your hormones, can stunt the growth of reproductive organs in children and render you infertile. But it is fine if you do not have too much.
You should really check out the Vegan Forum or get a book on “Becoming Vegan”. It’s good to have all the information you need in your hands at once, rather than relying on strangers answering your questions.
eat a balanced diet, and also, buy silk soy mik, two glasses of silk soy milk a day will have you covered B12 wise.
A good supplement for vegans would be meat or fish. If you can’t eat dairy how do you expect to get enough protein in your diet? From soy?
