Should I Start Taking A Daily Vitamin? Do I Need To Consult A Doctor Before I Do So?

I’m an 18-year-old female, and I’m very athletic (competitive distance runner). I eat all the healthy things I should be eating every day, plus loads of not-so-healthy things, but I just have a constantly ravenous appetite, so I’m really one of those people that needs to always eat. I eat lots of fruits and veggies, I suppose enough protein (I eat chicken and fish a lot, but not beef or pork) and tremendous amounts of carbs. I’ve got a crazy fast metabolism, so while I probably eat more than a bulky NFL player, nothing sticks to me and I burn everything off through running anyway.
My main concern is that I’m not getting enough calcium. I really don’t drink much milk, and when I do, it’s always skim milk because I hate creamy things. I don’t spend all day drinking soda or other junk, because literally all I drink is water. I have way more than my 8 glasses each day (my pee has been clear for years lmao). Should I take a calcium supplement? Or is there some sort of other vitamin I should take just because I’m an athletic young woman?

Yes you should consult a doctor before taking any pill, they will know how you will react and if it is safe for you.

If you know you’re not getting enough calcium its perfectly fine to take a calcium supplement. They’re over the counter. My nutritionist gives me a “prescription” for them as well as an adult chewable multivitamin (tastes like flintstones and don’t have to swallow that huge horsepill!) but only because it tricks my insurance company into paying for them ;)
Other than that, try taking regular “One-A-Day”. They make ones with caffeine for “active lifestyles” and ones more specifically geared for teens too.
FYI, I’m a healthy 22 year old female too, believe me the doctor will want you to take vitamins =) Also, Most vitamins will make you nauseous if you don’t take them with food!

Negative Calorie Foods

The phrase, "negative calorie food", as highlighted in negative calorie diet programs and books, usually refers to foods that allegedly require more energy to digest than they contain. Since the process of digestion requires the use of calories for energy, sometimes the net amount of metabolizable energy available from a food is less than the gross number of calories contained in the food.
